Well, as most of you already know--Doug and I are ENGAGED! Doug had called me at work Monday wondering if there was any way I could get work off on Tuesday because he wanted me to ride in the Combine before they finished up harvest. Since I am employed with a crop insurance agency, and this time of year is pretty slow for us, I knew that my Boss(who happens to be my Uncle Warren) would let me take the day off to help Doug in the fields. He was so happy that I got the day off of work, and so was I as I always like to ride with him in the tractor, and last year i rode with him in the combine a few times, and hadn't gotten to this year yet, and Steve and Doug got a new combine, so riding in it before they were done with harvest was a definate MUST. I got up that morning and got my "farmer chick" clothes on(no make up YIKES), and out the door I went to Steve & Caroles. I walked out into the field, and met Doug in the Semi and we hauled grain to town the whole morning. Carole made a big lunch at the house for all of us--Steve, Carole, Doug, the hired man, and Me. The food was great, and we talked for a little bit about the wedding plans of some friends of ours, Angie Laven & Jeremy Stangl who are getting married August 2, 2008, and we are both in the wedding, had a nice conversation then it was out to the fields to finish combining. Doug had told me that he told Steve just to leave him a couple of rounds and that would be good enough. Doug and I jumped into the combine and away we went, with Steve along side in the grain cart. We had gone a couple of rounds, and all the sudden the corn looked like it was jammed in the head, and Doug said, " oh shoot, the rock trap door came open, Ill be right back." So i moved over to the drivers seat and was watching for him down below. He came back up the ladder and said,"Get in that glove box right there next to you on your right, and there is a little black box in there with a tool in it that I need." So Im looking for a tool box, and found what looked like a ring box, and nothing really hit me until i picked it up, and realized that, yes holy cow this is a ring box. I then panicked and thought well maybe i wasnt supposed to see that and threw it back in the glove box, and he said, " no that box that you just had in your hand, thats it right there." I then turned to my left, and there he was on his knee and said, " Will you marry me" as i opened the box. I just cried.....didnt even say yes just cried, and hugged him and kissed him. And then I looked to my right and Steve had watched the whole thing. That was extra fun!
HE DID SO GREAT, and I couldnt be happier. I am so excited to be apart of the Sievers/White families, and my family is so excited to have a son, and grandson. Doug the little squirt had already told Carole and showed her the ring, and talked to my Mom and Dad and asked them for my hand in marriage. I couldnt have asked for a better proposal, and it doesnt get much sweeter then being in a combine, and getting engaged.
THATS OUR NEWS! MARK THE DATE: August 23, 2008!
Pictures to follow;)
